Quick message about supplies for the Hogar

This is a quick message to those of you who follow this blog. Carter and I are returning to Los Angeles for the week after July 4...a good opportunity for me to buy supplies for the children's medical house we visit here in Lima. If you wish to help out, it would be very much appreciated. And never fear, we will purchase all these things whether or not anyone contributes.

  • 10qty Baby Formula @ $25ea
  • 2qty Baby Bjorn carriers @ $80ea
  • 1qty back-brace/work-belt @ $60ea
Baby Formula costs double in Peru, so it makes sense to bring back as much as I can carry.

When babies are taken in to central Lima for doctor appointments, the trip is 1-1/2 hours in the crammed public taxi vans or buses. As it is, babies are uncomfortably carried in arms the whole way.

Nestor, a grown employee (and full-body burn survivor), has a work belt for the heavy lifting he does around the home "but it is very bad quality".

There's a bunch of little stuff the ladies have requested ("Clothespins" "Good scrub pads" etc), but the items listed are the significant ones. If you are interested in helping with a small donation, contact me. It can be as easy as going online and getting me a Target gift card. This is not tax-deductible donation, obviously, but it is an absolutely concrete way to hand deliver support for the home.
